Connie is a great guy -- always looked out for me whenever he could -- who's had more than his share of challenges latley. But things seem to be on an upturn again. It's detailed nicely in this News-Sun piece my Mark Perlman. A sample:
It's hard to pin Conrad "Connie" Kowal down.No words can paint the full picture of what kind of personality Connie is, someone I feel fortunate to have had in my life. But this piece does as good a job as any. Give it a quick read, it's worth your time.
He's a busy man right now — make it a very busy man right now.
A resident of Libertyville since 1978, Connie was just appointed president of the Chicago Shamrox, the area's new indoor pro lacrosse franchise.
Not only is Connie doing a myriad of operations with the team, he also spends a great deal of time keeping an eye on the progress of the team's home — the new Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates.
The 11,000-seat stadium is where the Shamrox will play, starting in January.
So on this particular Saturday morning (no chance of getting him free during the work-week), Connie was pinned down for a cup of coffee, bacon, toast and orange juice at the Liberty Restaurant in Libertyville.
