Not sure how anything, outside of a live event, could possibly top this clip from "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" in 2009:
Want to know how it all came together? Read more (and see a "behind the scenes clip) here.

YouTube fun
I try not to do this too much, and maybe I won't think this is funny the next time I watch it. But I think this video is pretty darn amusing, and I definitely award its creator a Too Much Free Time Seal of Approval.

Found a great new site today -- Auotmotivator -- which allowed me to make this in three simple steps:

Lest you think I've gone 100 percent serious, enjoy this poster, which is far more amusing.

For those of us without regular PhotoShop access, a site like this brings fresh, new opportunities to humiliate our friends.

Indpendently, Kristie and I had exactly the same thought today -- go back to the blog posts from April 2004 and see what our world was like immediately before Jack hit the scene.
My thought, specifically, was to go to April 14, the eve of Jack's April 15 due date (he wasn't born until April 24, for those of you not keeping score at home).
In April 2004, we find lots of fun stuff: a compelling discourse on the six best episodes of "Friends," a now-embarassing mini-ode to Barry Bonds, a slew of "Sucks to be this guy," this blog's first recurring feature, a but of pre-emptive Mark Prior worship (if I only knew...), tales of OB-GYN visits (which I don't get to do this time since i have to stay home with Jack) and tons of other goodies.
I could hyperlink to it all, but that's too time consuming and it's easy enough to find on your own. Also, it's mostly interesting to me since it's self indulgent. I'd imagine most people reading this would have to be real, real bored to go back in time four years. Or curious about what I've been up to if the last time we spoke was in the pre-Jack days.
Can you tell how anxious we are for this baby to drop?

You paid attention during 97% of high school!
85-100% You must be an autodidact, because American high schools don't get scores that high! Good show, old chap!
Do you deserve your high school diploma?
I think my knowledge of religion stuff gave me an unfair advantage. And someone may have helped me calculate the area of that triangle. Thanks to Eric Zorn for the link.

Well, it had to happen. Someone has updated Abbott and Costello's "Who's On First" routine for the computer age. A sample...
Read it all here.
ABBOTT: Software for Windows? Is it comedy gold? No, not like the original. Is it worth a chuckle? You bet.
COSTELLO: No. On the computer! I need something I can use to write proposals, track expenses and run my business. What have you got?
ABBOTT: Office.
COSTELLO: Yeah, for my office. Can you recommend anything?
ABBOTT: I just did.
COSTELLO: You just did what?
ABBOTT: Recommend something.
COSTELLO: You recommended something?
ABBOTT: Yes.
COSTELLO: For my office?
ABBOTT: Yes.
COSTELLO: OK, what did you recommend for my office?
ABBOTT: Office.
COSTELLO: Yes, for my office!
ABBOTT: I recommend Office with Windows.
COSTELLO: I already have an office with windows! OK, lets just say I'm sitting at my computer and I want to type a proposal. What do I need?
ABBOTT: Word.
COSTELLO: What word?
ABBOTT: Word in Office.
COSTELLO: The only word in office is office.

I thought about linking to this when I saw it a few months ago, but I thought everyone would have seen it somewhere else. Since it cropped up again in this Tribune story about the technique, here is... Brokeback to the Future.

Got some time to kill? Check out this list of the "Top 15 Strangest Coincidences." I'm intrigued by this one:
The British actor Anthony Hopkins [who shot to fame as Hannibal Lecter] was delighted to hear that he had landed a leading role in a film based on the book The Girl From Petrovka by George Feifer. A few days after signing the contract, Hopkins travelled to London to buy a copy of the book. He tried several bookshops, but there wasn't one to be had. Waiting at Leicester Square underground for his train home, he noticed a book apparently discarded on a bench. Incredibly, it was The Girl From Petrovka. That in itself would have been coincidence enough but in fact it was merely the beginning of an extraordinary chain of events. Two years later, in the middle of filming in Vienna, Hopkins was visited by George Feifer, the author. Feifer mentioned that he did not have a copy of his own book. He had lent the last one - containing his own annotations - to a friend who had lost it somewhere in London. With mounting astonishment, Hopkins handed Feifer the book he had found. 'Is this the one?' he asked, 'with the notes scribbled in the margins?' It was the same book.Trust me, some of the others are just as good.

The list of Ten Things I Hate About Local TV News contains some items that very easily could have been written for the Quad-Cities, though they come from a Detroit mind. For example:
4.) "Live on location" - This is where they unnecessarily send a cameraman and a reporter to broadcast live on location. This is most ridiculous during the 11 o’clock news. Usually it’s a reporter standing in an empty parking lot in front of a sign. Example, earlier in the day Ford announces the layoff of 500 salaried workers. Where do they report this from, the empty parking lot in front of Ford headquarters at 11:10 PM while it is raining. Without that shot of the big blue oval I don’t think I would believe it. But man, they’re out there getting the story for us.Don't believe it's that bad here? Come visit some time. It's brutal. And don't get me started on the speech impediments.
5.) "Weather sensationalizing" – 15 degrees isn’t cold enough for these idiots. They have to calculate the “real feel” “today’s high will only be 15 degrees but it will actually feel like minus 52” Their real feel is going to be lower than the other stations guaranteed, no one else has the Weatherforce Calculator II.
Same with snow accumulation. A few days before a snow storm the hype starts. At first it is 1 to 3 inches. The day before it changes to 4 to 6 and not to be outdone by other stations “we could be looking at 6 to 8 inches of snow”. This becomes THE story of the night, interviews with plow truck drivers, the State Police, ect. How will you survive Mother Nature’s fury? You usually wake up the next morning and guess what, an inch and a half of snow on your car, turn on the wipers and drive away. These idiots don’t get it. This is Detroit, it snows here in the winter.

Who made more money, Danny Tanner for hosting "Wake up San Francisco," or Tim Taylor, for hosting "Tool Time"?
Well, according to Salary.com and CNN, it was Taylor, despite the fact his show was clearly a local access cable show (a notch higher than "Wayne's World," which aired on Aurora publc access channel 10) and "WUSF" was very likely a network morning show in a major media market.
Adjusted for 2005, Tim the Tool Man pulled in $191,526 per annum whilst Tanner grossed just $130,000. I find that hard to believe, but I also think it's funny that both make more than Sandy Cohen, who is the father on "The OC" and a high profile lawyer in one of the richest counties in the country.
See the whole list here.

Thanks to Josh for this link (find a link to his site at right), a movie quiz from the same people who made the Intelligence Test I linked to recently.
Shannon (of Post-schna-ulations) had linked to a similarquiz on her site a month or so ago, and I found that one to be quite difficult.
Anyhow, please enjoy theFun Movie Quiz.

Accoridng to the people who run this quick intelligence test, I am one of only three people to get all 11 questions right. I find that tough to believe, but I will accept the accoldae nonetheless.
Also, my love life may bloom soon. Woo-hoo!

How many band names can you see in the photo (click to enlarge in a new window). Allegedly there's 75. I might have to look real, real hard to get 20. Perhaps we should start a list in the comments section.
