Evan's link of the week

Says Evan: "i'm not up on my bible study, but isn't this a sign of the apocalypse?"
Flaming squirrel ignites car in Bayonne
by N. Clark Judd
Thursday October 18, 2007, 7:29 PM

It's Rocky the Frying Squirrel!

A kamikaze squirrel fell from the sky and detonated a Bayonne woman's car yesterday, police said today.

Lindsey Millar, 23, and her brother, Tony, 22, were both home Wednesday at about 12:45 p.m. when Lindsey's car suddenly started burning outside their 42nd Street home.

Tony Millar said firefighters told them it was the work of a buck-toothed saboteur that had been gnawing on overhead power lines connected to a transformer directly above the 2006 Toyota Camry.

"The squirrel chewed through the wire, was set on fire, fell down directly to where the car was," Tony Millar said. "The squirrel, on fire, slid into the engine compartment and blew up the car.
"They're always coming around here, chewing through the garbage," he added.

Tony Millar says his sister was fully insured.

"It's something to laugh about once she has a new car," he said. "It's not funny yet."
Police said there were no injuries -- except for the squirrel, that is, which is dead.

The Millars' home is decorated for Halloween, complete with a tiny plastic tombstone on their front lawn. Tony Millar said the family will consider dedicating the tombstone to the squirrel, who was not named.

Evan's link of the week

From the site: Eight-year-old twins Jared and Justin, tired of being bullied, have developed wedgie-proof underwear, the Rip-Away 1000s. This may be the greatest internet video of all time, those poor little bastards. It may also be the saddest. You just have to watch. The only problem is, I failed to hear any mention of swirlie-proof heads, indicating these kids still have plenty years of torture ahead of them.

Evan's link of the week

This actually is Evan's link of the week from September 28, but I've been a little busy. And, thanks to the wonders of YouTube, you don't really need a link.

It's actually Evan's link from a month ago, but it is interesting. Click on this only if you have a good connection and a fascination about baby names. Here you go!

Evan's Link of the Week

This clip of a Japanese game show, in which men who fail to successfully pronounce a tongue-twister get a shot in the gonads, pretty much sums up the kind of stuff Evan looks for when e-mailing me links of weird stuff. Excellent footage. Domo arigato, Mr. Animato.

Evan's link of the week

You may or may not have seen this before, but you'll always remember it once you do.

If someone from the distant future is rifling through our artifacts the way we go through the pyramids of Egypt, I hope only that someone's PC is still connected to the Web with sites like this bookmarked. This is the eiptome of how we use the Internet.

Evan's link of the week

This feature has been on a long hiatus. Obviously, I blame Evan, who stopped e-mailing me links to awesome stuff like Overheard in the Office: The Voice of the Cubicle. A sample
12PM Lunch
RVP: Hey, I thought you were out sick today.
Sales manager: Nope, I was just tired.
RVP: [peeved] Nice.
Sales manager: Hey, you brought me here for my brutal honesty.

There's plenty more just like that and some far funnier. Enjoy yourself.

Evan's link of the week

I'm not sure if all the HTML will be right here, but I'm giving it a shot. I'll let Evan se it up:
Extremely nerdy, but fun!

check out the 1st link to learn about it, and then look at the 2nd one to see it in action... again and again.

be sure to listen for it in "Cars" It's in there!
I couldn't get the second link (a QuickTime mbovie) to work on my mom's Mac, but that may have something to do with the OS. Anyhow, the first link is a worth a read if you have the time, and a must for mvoei buffs.

And Evan works at Pixar, which is why he knows more abouts "Cars" than you. Also cause he's tall. Or something.

Evan's quasi-link of the week

I say quasi, because the e-mail Evan sent had only a link to an e-mail address. Anyhow, the text was too good to pass up. Remember, Evan lives in San Fran (which, much like Chi-Town, is probably a term the locals abhor), so this probably just came by him naturally:

San Francisco 2005
Nov 14th - Dec 5th
Regular price $35
Sign up deadline Nov 9th

StreetWars is a 3 week long, 24/7, watergun assassination tournament that has already taken place in New York City, Vancouver, and is now coming to San Francisco.

At the start of the game you will receive a manila envelope containing the following:
• A picture of your intended target(s)
• The home address of your intended target(s)
• The work address of your intended target(s)
• The name of your intended target(s)
• Contact information of your intended target(s)

Upon receipt of these items, your (or your team's) mission is to find and kill (by way of water gun, water balloon or super soaker) your target(s).

You can hunt your target down any way you see fit; you can pose as a delivery person and jack them when they open the door, disguise yourself and take them out on the street, etc.

If you are successful in your assassination attempt, the person you killed will give you their envelope and the person they were supposed to kill becomes your new target. This continues until you work yourself through all the players and retrieve the envelope with your (or your team's) picture(s) and name(s). Then you win. Cash…but first live in fear.

I think I can safely say this kind of thing will never happen in Clinton.

Evan's link of the week

Chuck Norris sold his soul to the devil for his rugged good looks and unparalleled martial arts ability. Shortly after the transaction was finalized, Chuck roundhouse kicked the devil in the face and took his soul back. The devil, who appreciates irony, couldn't stay mad and admitted he should have seen it coming. They now play poker every second Wednesday of the month.

Read more Random Chuck Norris Facts... such as this one:
Chuck Norris was the fourth Wiseman. He brought baby Jesus the gift of "beard". Jesus wore it proudly to his dying day. The other Wisemen, jealous of Jesus' obvious gift favoritism, used their combined influence to have Chuck omitted from the Bible. Shortly after all three died of roundhouse kick related deaths.

Well, if you like Asian guys using visual techniques to apply Matrix-like effects to ping-pong, then this is the link for you. And if you don't, then what the hell are you doing here in the first place?

Evan's link(s) of the week

Here is an interesting take in the new "Star Wars" movie as seen in a foreign country with English subtitles. Much funnier in reality than my description.

And here is a site dedicated to Evan's pick for president in 2008. As long as he doesn't say "Marsupials scare me... 'cause they're fast," we'll be OK.

Let this link teach you one thing: My friend Evan is a weird dude.
