Jack and the Nook

Several months ago I posted about Jack's online tech support session with one of the Barnes & Noble Nook experts. I come now to relate a story of how Jack uses the Nook to communicate with us. He's still not allowed to have an email address, but he's learned he can go through the Barnes & Noble store, find a book, click on the "recommend this book to a friend" link and add a personal note. Then the book title and his note will go to his intended recipients (he's got a few email addresses saved in our joint B&N account).

So when I woke and checked my email Dec. 23, I was not entirely surprised to see two emails with the subject "Scott Holland likes (book title) and thinks you will too." Most of the time the personal note has nothing to do with the book or app, it's just his avenue for sending an email with a message like "Max is snoring REALLY LOUD!!!!" But on this occasion, he was actually putting some thought into what he wrote, and he sent them to more than just me. For example...

This app could teach max and charlie about being lazy when they have thire own life.(i am myself, and i'm fixing that) Thease app teach what happens on your life when you are lazy. Do you think this fable app is something good for max and charlie? Let me know in morning please. I think that i can just help max (and charlie when he grows up) to teach them that when you say things and you are jokeing and then when it's real they will not belive you.(i read the book at school) you can let me know by peson,ichat or text!
